    (Not) A Doll's House. Curators in dialogue

    Puppets are present in many parts of our lives. Not only are they a prime figurative representation of humans, but they also manage to embody our innermost wishes, fears, and desires. At the same time, they are to be understood as a mirror of society and its role models in history and the present. In the exhibition "(K)ein Puppenheim. Traditional Roles and Brand-New Images" we can see a similar ambivalence in the Sammlung Goetz by visual artists that take intriguing slants in their treatment of puppets and dolls. By combining their art, the Münchner Stadtmuseum’s Puppet Theater / Fairground Attraction Collection and associated historical photographs, we venture into an interdisciplinary dialog between these rich sets of works. In a dialogue tour, the curators of both museums share their conceptual ideas and thoughts and invite visitors to take a critical look.
